Your transformation of the beautiful farm is so lovely. I especially loved the windows across the kitchen counter and the deep blue in the study. When I read ...”But as the meeting went on, I found myself feeling progressively more unwell.” I felt this like a visceral gut punch. I was scrolling back in my mental archives to when I had a similar feeling. Totally unrelated and still can’t place it. Yet felt it. Enjoy your beautiful bucolic farmhouse, Holly.
It is a wonderful feeling to live in a home where your loved ones lived. A home with memories. Specially if it is in a farm, even better! These days, it is difficult to own a land or property with the prices skyrocketing. If you already have one away from all the noise, I think it is the best thing you could have. I love the sink and the view. That is the dream (the view). ❤️ Loved reading this! Love from India :)
It’s a beautiful integration of your family history, your memories, and all the new ones you, your husband, and children will make. Lovely! Thank you for sharing this with us.
I wanted to see what you did with this heritage property. You did right by it- driven by framing it with the significant past family uses, habits and memories. It’s lovely in every sense of the word!
I LOVE that huge old cast iron sink. The view. The before and the afters. I was enthralled. Write on, Holly!
It is the best best sink. ❤️
People pay big bucks for those cast-iron sinks! I’m loving this post and I love the way your decorating. What a great story!
I came across a pile of them at a salvage store years later and thought...should I have sold that thing? Ha!
Oh I missed this edition, but am catching up now. "I stand at my grandmother’s sink—my sink—and I accept it all." Just lovely.
