“Tonight, I am going to dream of the garden!” What a great goal for any gardener....

Yes! But only good dreams, not the one where you dared to put in the tomato plants a week earlier and they got killed by a late frost. (Me!)

If we knew what we didnt know, we may not have started in the first place. Kudos on your learning journey in the garden. Your children will thank you. ( Tonight , I am going to dream of the garden)

Keep calm and carry on:)

Your kids and their garden stories are priceless. We’ve always had a garden of some sort. Yours reminded me that when mine were young they would hop from the minivan and head straight to the blueberry bushes. And they loved asparagus so much I would hide it so my husband and I had enough to eat. 😊

We also have to pick and hide asparagus to get any! That's so funny.

While living in married student housing, we could “rent” a 50 x 50 foot garden plot for cheap. Knowing nothing about gardening, we planted 4 or 5 (it was a long time ago) tomato plants, 4 zucchini plants and some potato hills.

By the end of summer we couldn’t give either tomatoes or zucchini away. The apartment neighbors would see us coming back and hide.

Haha! There are some plants that make you feel like a gardening god....

Thank you for this. I am tentatively planning to start a garden, but it's so challenging where I live (9000 feet elevation in the San Juan Mountains) due to the short growing season, elk herds eating the flowers and trees we grow, strong high-altitude climate etc.... so I appreciate your details and inspiration!

Oof! That is definitely a try-and-see situation, as I'm sure there's no manual you could follow even if you wanted to. Sounds so beautiful.

It's been a dream of mine for a long time to have a vegetables garden or potager as we call it in french.

I grew a lot of stuffs on my balconies.

We now have a space outside the house in which we put big pots but I can't wait to have a bit of land dedicated to my garden.

Gardens teach us so much and I love how it comes naturally to your sons.
