Loved this! The line “but it turned out to be just ordinary life in another setting—here, too, you could argue with your partner while passing beneath giant ferns” is so true. I’ve lived in so many different places and have seen it demonstrated a thousand ways in my own life, going through hard things in magical places or wonderful things in places I didn’t want to be. Your writing is lovely!
I loved your description of the end of your hike and your reflection of it. It makes me wonder if it is how you experience most endings. Like Irene, I enjoy your candidness. Thank you for sharing!

Bobble headed doll with no off button, gosh, I love this! Now I want a meat pie.

Enjoying your journey. The candidness.
Every good ship has an anchor and a sail. Xx
The reflections and comparisons...wow! Beautifully done.
You mean with sadness? Quite possibly! 😂
My mouth is watering ... I am tempted to pop on a bobble hat and nod along!
Loved your four-post journey, full of evocative candour. Thank you, I enjoyed the ride!
